Now I know why Salvador Dali was such a wild & crazy surrealistic dude…….HIS HEAD WAS SCREWED ON THE WRONG WAY!….This is one great bust (this coming from a guy who knows his great busts…..well, every guy THINKS he knows great busts so I guess I’m not all that special….and I so wanted to be special in life….special like a guy like Dali who blew the collective mind of the masses with paintings that cry out to you, “What the hell do I mean, huh??”)……I have figured a few of his paintings out on my own, but mostly I have to go to Answers.com or InfoPlease to get the full story (although I still wonder if these sites are actually giving me the straight dope…..I mean, how can you explain Dali’s career and all of his major works in a paragraph and half….with one tiny-tiny photo of that melting watch painting!)….Great sculpture bust of “Hello Dali” by Gene Diakono (it’s really just titled “Dali,” but I’m so lame when it comes to resisting lame, and juveniley so, humor…Sorry.

Oh, the life of a budding genius in the arts these days….I imagine this concerned young woman to be high school Junior with an eye toward somehow, some-way, using that genius in a way that will permit her to live the very full life of a full-time artist and still be able to feed and clothe herself….Although many layers of society love great or inspiring or “shock of the new” art and artistic performance, there is a growing unwillingness to recognize the art lifestyle/career as a worthy path (and, thus, a growing hesitancy for these layers of society, and society as a whole, to financially support these types of lifestyles/careers)….The arts reflect the soul of a society and the willingness of humanity to see life as something vital, creative, imaginative, and “revolutionary”…….life as something other than what almost all of us do in life (which, if not boring or based on “putting food on the table,” is not exactly mentally and emotionally exhilarating)…..So this young women sits and frets about whether her paintings are good enough to get into an excellent art school, and sits and frets about whether getting into an excellent art school will mean anything at all in her future……The great thing, of course, is that enough of these young artistic geniuses DO decide it’s worth the risk and some of them do go on to live a full-time life of art (with food on the table).

Winter Zombies….A lot of folks in Wisconsin are turning into Winter Zombies……The constant, unrelenting WHITE, WHITE, WHITE are transforming the “I can’t afford to go to Florida or Cancun” residents of Badgerland into soul-less bodies!! As a book on world mythology notes re: zombies: “In the Voodoo cult of Haiti, a zombi is the slave of a magician. The soul may have been removed by magic from a living person.”………Yah, that’s right…..that’s what we’ve become…..Slaves of the Magician of Winter’s White Wrath!!……The twelve feet of WHITE, WHITE snow that covers everything all-of-the-freakin’-time has magically removed our souls……We wander aimlessly around and around, seeing only white, thinking only white, buying tons of sheets & pillowcases at White Sales, our minds replaced by blank white blackboards (tabula rasa) on which the Magician of Winter’s White Wrath writes with his White Magic Marker!!!…..Get us out of here!……If you’re in Minnesota, Iowa or Illinois (our bordering brethren), cross the state line and bring us to salvation in Marquette, Iowa, or Gurnee, Illinois, or La Crescent, Minnesota, or any bordering lands OUTSIDE OF THIS WHITE HELL-HOLE!

BAM! The Flu-Bug-Not-Covered-by-the-Flu-Shot knocked me flat on my butt a few weeks back—-it was the First Round of my Heavyweight Championship fight against my challenger, Marvin “The Destroyer” Flu-Bug——2 seconds into the fight, Flu-Bug KO’ed me with a Sucker Punch to my entire Body (innards and outards) and I took the 10 count (well, actually the 5-day count—that’s how long I was OUT, OUT, OUT!)………I have rarely (maybe not ever) gotten the Flu-Bug since the advent of regular flu shots for many of us, but this year I took the Big Left Hook to the Groin….oh, OK, my groin was pretty OK, but the rest of my Being was pulverized……..ALL of the symptoms, ALL of the time!!……Was literally frozen in the same position on my semi-comfy, but big, couch for the duration…….perhaps a trial run for my final days!!…..I certainly felt as if I was in my FINAL DAYS!……Oh well, back to my relatively healthy self (compared to people in small town Wisconsin where they tend to eat 4 meals a day, with sausage & taters at every meal!)……All I can say is “Damn you flu shot makers! Damn you!”
